VK Derbyshire Rally - 4/5 April 2009

VK is once again pleased to be the sponsor of the Derbyshire Rally for the ninth year running. Matlock Motor Club have organised this rally for well over thirty years and it has been proving ground for many top rally drivers and co drivers and a must for the clubman. I am sure the organising team has once again planned a demanding and tough route for driver and navigator and if the route takes you anywhere near Walton I shall be looking out for future stars!

 FOREWORD

Welcome to the 35th VK Derbyshire Rally, which again will receive the enthusiastic support of former National Rally Champion Steve Perez and his company GBL International Ltd. We look forward to meeting all our “regulars” again this year and we especially welcome any newcomers to this long-established Derbyshire classic.
 
The “VK” won the EMAMC “Best Event” award last year and working on the principle of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” this year’s event will offer a very similar format. A competitive route with several sections timed to the second, straightforward navigation and the usual smattering of sensible “whites”. We have made one slight change however, based on competitor feedback last year, and that is to build in more time make-up sections for novices, hence the route will be a few miles shorter.
 
In previous years the rally has raised substantial amounts to local charities such as the Ashgate Hospice, “A Pool for Megan” and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance. We are repeating this venture this year and again it will be in aid of the Air Ambulance. Please try to make a contribution to this very worthy cause – you never know when any of us may need them! Either include a donation with your entry or use the collection buckets on the night of the rally. Thank you.
 
Finally, as this event is usually oversubscribed we would strongly encourage you to send off your entry early to avoid disappointment!
